In Japan, hand roll is a beloved way to enjoy sushi at home. It's akin to making your own custom sandwich or burrito in the US. Hand roll allows for the creation of a personalized roll with the combination of fish and vegetables that you love. It's easy, tasty, and enjoyable, especially when shared with loved ones.

During my childhood, my family frequently had Temaki Sushi dinners. My mother would purchase the freshest fish available at the local supermarket. She cooked warm sushi rice. The fish was the star of the show, but I also enjoyed the supporting cast of shiso leaf, cucumber, umeboshi (pickled plum), takuan (pickled daikon radish), tamago (egg), and natto (fermented soybeans).

Rice Instructions: 

Method 1: Microwave

1. Place the sushi rice pack in the microwave.
2. Set to defrost for 4 -5 minutes.
3. After the rice is defrosted, cook for 2-3 minutes.

Method 2: Defrost in Refrigerator and Microwave

1. Place the sushi rice pack in the refrigerator overnight or until it is defrosted.
2. Place the rice pack in the microwave.
3. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
