Tuna - Hon Maguro Otoro, Frozen (Japan) - avg 0.5 lb
Otoro - For many, this is the most desirable part of the tuna for sushi and sashimi. It's the fattiest part of the tuna belly, and it practically melts in your mouth. Because of its highly sought after attributes, otoro is more expensive than other parts of the fish – but certainly worth every penny.
Upon receiving the product, please place directly into your freezer. We suggest consuming within 3 days. Due to the delicate nature of this cut of tuna, the saku is vacuum-sealed and stored in a deep-freezer (-70 F). A regular home freezer will not be able to preserve the color and taste of this tuna for more than 5 days.
How to defrost:
We recommend taking the vacuum-sealed fish from the freezer no more than 2 hours before eating, and defrost in bowl of water and ice. When defrosting, the fish must be kept in a vacuum sealed bag for safety and to preserve the flavor. Do not refreeze tuna.
